The Hurricane
September 6th, 2010Hurricane Earl dissapated and left Cape Cod unscathed...but, my partner, R., created his own waves in the homestead. He purchased a "Droid" phone, by Verizon, the afternoon the storm was supposed to hit. We listened intently to the information given us at the Verizon Shop in Hyannis, by a very well groomed young man who had an accent that was difficult to understand...he also wasn't sure what we were saying. But, he persevered in answering every question asked, as a light sweat broke out on his upper lip. R. had been on a "mission" to get this possession, but, was very quiet on the ride home-- just as he had been when he purchased a mini notebook computer that went back to the store quickly. He couldn't wait to learn all aspects of the "Droid", but, had to go online, as there is no printed booklet that accompanies it. His personality is one that wants immediate results and he has little patience with anything falling short of that. Therefore, the poor little gadget was smashed a few times. Luckily, I was out of the area when Hurricane R hit. His grumbling and frustration reached a fever pitch that night as he wouldn't stop complaining about it not working correctly, as he attempted different functions. My only imput was to tell him he expected too much of himself, too quickly--read and follow the directions. To my great relief, the "storm" subsided the following day, when he mastered it completely and then, amazingly enough, made a leather holster for it. To all thinking of purchasing, it's extemely rugged...
